Privacy policy
What we collect when you use this site or call us, who handles it for us, and how to have it corrected or deleted.
Effective October 2026
The short version
- We collect what you type into our forms, and the number you call or text us from.
- We use it to answer you, prepare estimates and do the work. We do not sell it, rent it or share it for anyone else's marketing.
- This site does not use cookies, analytics, advertising pixels or tracking scripts.
- Ask, and we will show you, correct or delete what we hold about you.
What we collect, and when
The contact form
Your name, email address, phone number, town or ZIP, the kind of project, your timeline and your message. The form sends them to our inbox as an email.
The instant estimate
Step 1 sends the address you type to our server, which asks Google's mapping and Solar API services to find the building and return its roof survey (the roof planes and their pitch, direction and area) and a satellite photo of the building, which is shown to you and not stored.
Steps 2 and 3 send the roof figures, the electric bill you enter and your choices to our server, which calculates the estimate. Production is calculated on our server from the roof survey Google returned in step 1 and the panel manufacturer's published ratings; nothing more is sent to anyone for this step.
Until you send the estimate to us, we do not store the address or the estimate. You can use the tool without giving us any contact details.
Step 4 is optional. If you send the estimate, your name, email address, phone number, the property address and the estimate come to our inbox as an email, so we can set up the assessment.
The design fee
If you reserve a detailed design, the design page sends your specifications (system, scope, existing roof, battery, electrical service, utility, timing and notes) to our server. Payment happens on Stripe's secure page: your card details go to Stripe, never to us. Stripe tells us the payment went through, with your name, email and the amount.
Calls and texts
Our phone line, (888) 459-4799, runs on Twilio. When you call or text it, we receive your phone number, and for a text your message, as an email record. Callers hear a recorded message; calls are not recorded. Each text gets an automatic reply with a link to this site. Reply STOP and the line will not text you again.
If you email us, we keep the email and our replies, as with any business correspondence.
When you browse
This site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, its servers see your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, as part of delivering them. Our pages load their typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser also fetches those from Google's servers. We do not use any of this to identify you. Because we do not track visitors, the site works the same whether or not your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal.
How we use it
- To answer your questions and schedule assessments.
- To prepare estimates, proposals and contracts, and to build and warranty the roof.
- To keep the business, tax and licensing records the law requires.
We do not sell personal information, rent it, or share it with anyone for their own marketing. We do not share mobile phone numbers or text-message consent with anyone for marketing.
Who handles it for us
These companies process information on our behalf, to provide their service to us. Each has its own privacy policy.
- VercelHosts this site and runs the contact form and the estimate.
- ResendDelivers form, estimate and phone-line records to our inbox, and our confirmation emails to you.
- AsanaWhere we track inquiries: each estimate you send us, contact form, text or call becomes a record our team works from.
- StripeProcesses the design-fee payment. Card details are entered on Stripe's page and never reach us.
- GoogleGoogle Maps Platform and the Solar API receive the address you enter in the estimate. Google Fonts serves the site's typefaces. Use of the Google features is subject to the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
- TwilioRuns our phone and text line.
- Our email providerStores our inbox.
When a project goes ahead, we share what each party needs with the people who build and approve it: our crews and subcontractors, the electrician, the manufacturer of your system for warranty registration, your utility for interconnection, and the local building department for permits. We may also disclose information when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Inquiries and estimates that do not become projects, we keep while they are useful for following up, and you can ask us to delete them at any time. Project records, including contracts, drawings, warranty registrations and invoices, we keep for the life of the warranties and as long as tax and licensing rules require.
Security
The site and its forms use an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Access to our inbox and project files is limited to the people at Solar Seam who need it. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we will tell you as the law requires.
Seeing, correcting or deleting your information
Email hello@solar-seam.com or call (888) 459-4799. We may need to confirm it is you before we release or change anything. We reply within 45 days, usually much sooner. If a signed contract, a warranty or tax rules require us to keep a record, we will tell you what we kept and why. Depending on your state, you may have further rights under its privacy law; send those requests the same way.
Children
This site is for property owners, builders and design professionals. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and its effective date.
