Roofit Solar Velario®

Velario has several US installations. Each module is tempered glass over solar cells on a steel backsheet, double-lock seamed to its neighbors. Roofit Solar Energy makes it in Europe.

Where it stands in the US

Roofit Velario has several installations in the US.

We quote it from Roofit's installation manual and datasheets, and the manufacturer engineers the panel layout for each roof we design.

Construction

How it's built

Each Velario module is 0.126 in (3.2 mm) tempered low-iron glass laminated over monocrystalline PERC cells, on a 0.0196 in (0.5 mm) galvanized steel backsheet with a GreenCoat Pural BT coating. The steel edges are formed into seams, so the module goes on like a standing-seam panel: double-lock seamed to its neighbors over battens, with at least 1.96 in of ventilation space beneath.

It comes in two lengths. Velario 115/3×8 covers 54.2 × 21.6 in and Velario 145/3×10 covers 66.8 × 21.6 in. Plain steel panels in a matching finish cover the rest of the roof. We specify the inverter and module-level electronics for each project.

  • Figures are as published in each manufacturer's current datasheet, factsheet or guarantee terms, converted to US units. "Not stated" means the manufacturer doesn't publish that figure.
  • Manufacturers state load and hail ratings on different test bases. They are not design loads; a structural engineer sets your roof's design snow and wind loads.
  • Efficiency is stated on different areas. The per-square-foot row divides rated power by roof coverage, which puts both systems on the same basis.
  • UL 61730: we don't claim a North American listing for either system until we have verified it.

Warranty

Warranty, in plain terms

Who stands behind what, and for how long. We put the issued terms in writing with your proposal.

  • Module10-year product warranty.
  • Power output25 years, with at least 80% of rated output.
  • Steel and coatingRoofit's datasheet doesn't state a separate term. We put the terms Roofit issues for your roof in writing with your proposal.
  • Inverter and electronicsWarranted by their manufacturers. Terms depend on the equipment we specify for your roof.
  • WorkmanshipSolar Seam's, in writing in your contract.
Fit

Where it fits

Six things decide which system goes on a roof. Here is where this one lands on each.

  • Roof pitchNeeds 10° (about 2.1:12) or steeper. Flatter sections, such as some porches and sheds, get standing-seam metal rated for the slope.
  • Roof shape and module sizesTwo module lengths, about 54 in and 67 in, give more ways to fill short runs between dormers, hips and valleys.
  • Warranty priorities10-year product and 25-year power warranties. Compare the terms side by side.
  • ElectronicsWe specify the inverter and module-level electronics for each roof and utility.
  • Lead timeMade in Europe and shipped by sea. We confirm lead time when we place the order.
  • BudgetPriced per roof. The instant estimate prices it next to SolRoof FIT VOLT on your address, with the same line items.

Before you decide

Worth knowing

Warranty

10 years on the module and 25 on power output. Roofit's datasheet doesn't state a separate steel or coating term; we give you the issued terms in writing.

Pitch

At 10° minimum, the flattest parts of some roofs (porches, sheds, low additions) get standing-seam metal rated for the slope instead of active modules.

Loads

Roofit's US datasheet lists tested loads of 208 psf down and 146 psf up. Tested ratings are not design loads; a structural engineer checks your roof against local snow and wind.

In the US

Several US installations. Roofit's US datasheet lists UL standards; we don't claim a UL listing until we've verified it for the modules on your roof.
